"Betagro" and "Freshket" team up to strengthen a distribution network to enter the e-commerce market
Bangkok – 17 June 2022 – “Betagro” and “freshket” are joining forces to expand their distribution network through an online platform to support growth in e-commerce, offering a selection of over 100 quality products responding to changes in Food Service needs. Betagro Holdings, who is the major shareholder of Betagro, allocated 115 million Baht to achieve continued growth and increased competitiveness while attracting new customers, magnifying the company’s commitment to delivering quality products at fair prices to consumers by covering all channels. Mr. Chayadhorn Taepaisitphongse, Vice President of Corporate Strategy and New Ventures, Betagro Public Company Limited, said that while the pandemic situation is improving, all industries have nevertheless been negatively affected, especially food and e-commerce businesses which must quickly adapt to meet rapidly changing consumer lifestyles and needs. The assessment on the growth of e-commerce industry in Thailand by Kiatnakin Phatra Financial Group’s research in August 2021, however, points to an average growth rate of 20% per year in the e-commerce market over the next five years, with the market value expected to increase from 300 to 750 billion baht by 2025.
Additionally, consumer behavior remains crucial in influencing the market and business direction, considering the strong growth anticipated in e-commerce on various platforms facilitating consumers with access to products most relevant to their needs while expanding distribution channels along with purchasing power, all of which will be driving forces in creating new growth opportunities for businesses.
Due to the increase in purchases on e-commerce coupled with a dedicated strategy to drive growth through new business models while generating growth for existing businesses, Betagro and freshket have teamed up to expand e-commerce network through a technology platform to sell food ingredients addressing the needs of Food Service, and which has so far received overwhelmingly positive feedback.
“Initially, we offered the pork, chicken, and egg product categories to test the waters and see how well they would perform on this market platform, and they definitely met our expectations in terms of product revenue. To date, we delivered over 100 items under the BETAGRO, S-Pure and ITOHAM brands on freshket. The products include hygienic meats, processed meats (pork and chicken), eggs, processed foods, premium sausages, as well as ready-to-cook and ready-to-eat foods. Our offerings meet a complete range of the current lifestyles of our consumers, and in addition, the pork, chicken, and egg product categories are considered our ‘hero’ products,” said Mr. Chayadhorn.
We see that Freshket will help in providing access to a stable and growing platform with strong growth opportunities that support Betagro’s product distribution to reach new consumer groups more efficiently. In addition, this can better support distribution through Betagro shop, Betagro Deli locations, hygienic meat shops, and leading supermarkets covering all regions and major cities in Thailand.
